RIP Scotty Bell: CSUMB Psychology Class of 2011

It is with great sadness that I share that we lost one of our own last month. Scott Bell passed away. He was a wonderful part of our psychology program here at CSUMB and will always be part of our family.

Scott Bell graduated from CSUMB with a BA in Psychology in 2011. He was a star in our program and on the campus. He won the President's Award for all-around academic prowess and contributions to the campus and community.

He was a wonderful friend to his classmates. Some of them are pictured here at the Honors Convocation in 2011.

He was an outstanding researcher. Here he is early in his research career with his colleagues from CSUMB at the Association for Psychological Science Meeting in San Francisco in 2009. They were all observing how a conference worked at that point. Later, Scotty would work with Jennifer Estassi (center) and Kage Williams (left) on a project that won the student award for research at the Western Psychological Association meeting in Cancun in 2010.

We certainly lost one of the bright lights of the world when we lost Scotty. Please join us on Thursday, February 28, 2019, 4-6p at Monte's on the CSUMB campus to raise a toast to him.
