CSUMB's First Asian-Pacific Islander Heritage Month - Faculty Panel - Research Issues

CSUMB is celebrating its first ever Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month--please see the attached flier. Our kick-off event will be Monday evening, May 9 from 7-8 p.m. in the UC Living Room. The event will be a faculty panel where Gerald Shenk and Angie Tran from SBGS and Paoze Thao from Liberal Studies will share a bit about their research, responding to the question: "How might your area(s) of scholarly research contribute to the CSUMB community's understanding of Asian-Pacific Islander issues, identities, and/or experiences?" Their brief presentations will be followed by discussion and a question and answer period. This is an opportunity for us to increase our awareness of API issues as a campus, as well as to engage in dialogue about each other's research. Although I am aware that this is a busy time in the semester, I want to encourage you to attend this exciting event and/or share this flier with your students and networks and let them know about API Heritage Month.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and I hope to see you there!

Warm regards,

María
