Monday Message #17-5: Careers

Dear Psychology Students, Alums, Faculty, Staff, and Supporters,

A Career. How do I get one? What is the right one for me? How do I succeed in one? How do I change it if I don't like it? Can I change it?...

Perhaps you have asked yourself one of these questions. There are likely many other questions you have asked as well. If you're on campus there are resources for you to use:

3. Non-psych careers for psychology majors. Sixty percent of psychology majors go directly into the work force after getting their B.A. And most get into a career that is not obviously psychology related.

4. Professional Networking Conference. Every year the psychology department sponsors one and this year it will focus on law enforcement. Even if you have never thought about law enforcement this is your opportunity to explore and hear from professionals. THIS IS A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY - DON'T MISS IT.

Thursday, Feb. 23 in the Univ. Center
8:30-3p (you don't have to go to the whole thing - see the schedule below.)

1. 8:15-9a breakfast and networking
2. 9a Dean's Welcome
3. 9:25a Federal Law Enforcement panel OR Local Law Enforcement Panel
4. 11a Concurrent Sessions on: Women in Law Enforcement; Investigating Death and Injuries; Mental Health in Law Enforcement; and Policing and Communities of Color
5. noon-1p lunch (build a sandwich buffet)
6. 1p-3p networking

Hope to see you there,
Dr. Dyer
